The holiday season is coming to an end soon, but there is still plenty of activities for children and families before school resumes.

Here is a sample of outdoor and indoor activities in the Tyler area:

Enjoy the outdoors

These outdoor spots are perfect for taking a walk or just relaxing and enjoying nature.

The town of Tyler has 28 parks and 14 walking and biking trails. City parks are open from sunrise to sunset, and the trails are open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. For a complete list of Tyler’s parks and trails, cityoftyler.org/government/departments/parks-rec .

Tyler State Park offers plenty of activities including biking, hiking, fishing, birding, camping, and more. The park lends fishing rods, reels, and tackle boxes, but bait must be purchased. Caldwell Zoo, 2203 Martin Luther King Blvd., is a great place to walk outside and see all kinds of animals. Admission to the zoo is available daily from 9 am to 3:30 pm Tickets are $ 15.50 for adults, $ 13.50 for seniors, $ 11.50 for children 3 to 12 years old and free for children 2 and under. Stimulate your mind

Holidays don’t necessarily mean taking a break from learning.

The Tyler Public Library, 201 S. College Ave., is open daily. The property offers not only books, but also DVDs, board games, e-readers and more. The library will be closed on December 26 and January 1. Normal hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The Tyler Museum of Art, 1300 S. Mahon Ave., has over 800 works in its permanent collection. Current temporary exhibitions include Norman Rockwell: Drawings, Paintings and Prints and The Black Dress: Selections from the Texas Fashion Collection and Works by Nancy Lamb. The museum is closed on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Discovery Science Place, 308 N. Broadway, offers hands-on science learning and more. It will be closed from January 1 to 7. Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The Earth and Space Science Center at Tyler Junior College, 1411 E. Lake St., offers hands-on learning for all ages. The museum is closed on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Learn about airplanes and their role in American history at the Historical Aviation Memorial Museum, 150 Airport Drive. The museum operates with its winter hours and is closed on Tuesdays. Normal hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday. Admission is $ 8 for adults, $ 7 for veterans and seniors, $ 5 for children 6 to 12, and free for children under 5. iJump, 2029 Capital Drive, features trampolines, dodgeball courts, a ninja course and more. iJump is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on New Year’s Day and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on New Year’s Day. After January 1, the park will resume normal hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park, 8958 S. Broadway Ave, has something for all ages. Regular hours are noon to 8 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
