Museum to come after the late Tasaso Yun: Mein


TEZU, February 12: Attending the late Tasaso Yun’s 82nd birth anniversary here in Lohit district on Saturday, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said the late Yun’s social life will remain an inspiration to all, and a museum will be built in his name (of Yun), “where his objects and documents will be kept.

“He was a father figure to all the people of the former undivided district of Lohit,” Mein said, and assured that “the government will do whatever is appropriate for his memorial.”

“Government Secondary School, Wakro is also renamed to Tasaso Yun Memorial Government Secondary School, Wakro,” Mein informed.

Advisor to Chief Minister Tai Tagak, State BJP Chairman Biyuram Wahge, Lohit District BJP Chairman Badang Tayang, Lohit District BJP Secretary Wanlu Talumpai, General Secretary of Tezu Block Mandal Biyai Bellai and Ashok Yun also spoke, highlighting the life story of the late Tasaso Yun.

Born on February 12, 1940, the late Tasaso Yun represented Arunachal Pradesh and was a founding member of the Jan Sangh since its formation in 1967, and became a life member of the BJP. In 1985 he was elected ZPM of Wakro Circle and served as ZPM for three consecutive terms.

Apart from his political life, he had dedicated and devoted his life to social and community services. He was one of the founding members of the Arunachal Vikash Parishad, Arun Jyoti and the indigenous religious movement, and worked to promote and preserve the cultural heritage and identity of the region.

Among others, Namsai MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom, Lekang MLA Jummum Ete Deori and former minister Dr. Mohesh Chai were also present.

The 82nd birthday party was jointly held by BJP units from Lohit and Namsai districts in Tezu on Saturday. (DCM PR cell)
