In March, the DaPonte String Quartet will tour throughout Maine with their “Breaking the Mold” program. DaPonte will split into smaller ensembles to perform a duo and a trio.
Described by Ravel as a “turning point in his career”, the Sonata for violin and cello / In memory of Claude Debussy is marked by a departure from the lush harmonies of his early Impressionist works, and the embrace of a jazzy and angular sound . with fantastic modal melodies. Mozart’s Divertimento in E-flat major for string trio is composed of six movements and stands out among his chamber works in terms of score and length. Each of the three voices – violin, viola and cello – equally shares a passionate and humanistic conversation.
Tickets can be purchased at daponte.org and at bangorartsexchange.org. These concerts are events where vaccination and wearing a mask are mandatory.
