SINGAPORE: Year of the Tiger collectible red packet sets will be available in 35 museums, heritage institutions and galleries this Chinese New Year season, with each location featuring a unique design.
The National Heritage Council (NHB) said on Wednesday January 5 that visitors can collect these limited edition sets throughout the museum’s Lunar New Year Hongbao campaign from January 7 to February 4.
Visitors are limited to one set each, with each set containing eight red packages.
The Museums Round Table is a collective of more than 60 public and private museums and heritage galleries, created by the NHB in 1996 to promote museum culture in Singapore.
Two new members of the collective – the Geylang Serai Heritage Gallery and the Kreta Ayer Heritage Gallery – are also participating in the campaign, which is currently in its eighth edition.
NHB also announced that it will produce a limited edition collector’s album for sale containing two complete sets of the 35 hongbao models for the year of the tiger.
These will have red backgrounds, compared to the pink backgrounds on packages available for collection at participating museums roundtable locations.
Priced at S $ 70 each, collectible albums will be available from January 22 at Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall while supplies last.
The NHB said it has previously received comments from visitors to the museum who asked it to sell complete sets of red packages from the museum’s round table as well as albums to keep and display.
