Summer is almost here and what better place to have fun for the whole family than the Calvert Marine Museum.

Wednesday to Friday, the month of June – Wm. B. Tennison Public Cruise 2 p.m.

Relax and enjoy a 1-hour sightseeing river cruise aboard the Wm. B. Tennison, a bugeye built of logs. The capacity can accommodate 40 guests. In case of bad weather, you will be warned by the crew before the cruise. The cost is $7 for adults and $4.00 for children ages 5-12. Children under 5 travel free when accompanied by a paying adult. Thursdays June 2, 9 and 16 – Jets de mer 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

Children from 18 months to 3 years old, accompanied by an adult, are invited to discover the museum together through music, stories and special activities. Join us for a story hour and craft to go, available while supplies last. Sessions last 25 to 40 minutes. Register at the admissions office upon arrival. This month’s theme is ABC’s of Chesapeake!

Fridays June 3 and 17 – Dee of St. Mary Sunset Sail (adults only) 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Join us for a 2-hour evening aboard the historic ship Dee of St. Mary, and experience the Patuxent River aboard an iconic Chesapeake Bay Skipjack. Guests will have the opportunity to help raise and lower the sail. This Friday night cruise is adults only and you are welcome to BYOB. The capacity can accommodate 30 guests. Join us for a 2-hour public sail aboard the historic vessel Dee of St. Mary, and experience the Patuxent River aboard an iconic Chesapeake Bay Skipjack. Friday June 10 – OLD DOMINION with the first match RYAN GRIFFIN in concert LIVE 7 – 10 p.m.

To kick off concert season, the GRAMMY-nominated Nashville band FORMER DOMINION will be performing at the PNC Waterside Pavilion at the Calvert Marine Museum as part of their summer tour! Florida native Ryan Griffin will bring the soul of R&B to the honest universality of country music and open for Old Dominion at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. with food and drink vendors on site. The Calvert Marine Museum and Museum Store close at 3 p.m. for concert preparations.

Wednesday, June 15 – Virtual conference: Megalodon – Morphology and ecology 6 p.m.

In honor of National Megalodon Day (June 15), international guest speaker Jack Cooper will give a virtual presentation on Megalodon: Morphology & Ecology based on 2D and 3D modelling; and the importance of this emblematic species in the study of the functional diversity of sharks. Jack Cooper is a PhD researcher at the University of Swansea in Wales, UK, studying the functional diversity and ecology of sharks through time using the fossil record. Saturday, June 18 – Fossil Field Experience 9 a.m. – noon

Come explore the fossils at Cove Point. Learn about fossils: where to find them, how to identify them, and what they can tell us about the past. This program is for adults and children aged 8 and over, accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration required at least two working days before the program. The cost is $15 per person. Sunday, June 19 – Father’s Day Brunch Cruise and Evening Cruise 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. or 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Celebrate dad aboard the Wm. B. Tennison! Relax together and enjoy the sights and sounds of Solomons Harbor and the Patuxent River. Restoration by Boomerangs. Monday, June 20 – CMM members save 20% in the museum shop
Museum members get a 20% discount in the Museum Shop today and on the 20th of every month. Museum store staff also offer private Zoom sessions for a unique virtual shopping experience. Purchases can be shipped via USPS, Priority Mail or held at the store for curbside pickup.

Thursdays, June 23 and 30 – Petits Minnows 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

This program revolves around one of the three themes of the museum. Preschoolers ages 3-5, accompanied by an adult, are invited to join us for story time and a craft that you can make on site or take home, available until exhaustion of stocks. Sessions last 25 to 40 minutes. Register at the admissions office upon arrival. This month’s theme is ABC’s of Chesapeake!

Saturday, June 25 – Building Toy Boats 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Build a wooden toy boat under the Corbin Nature pavilion! Space and materials are limited. Visitors will be welcomed on a first come, first served basis. From 5 years. Sponsored by the Patuxent Small Craft Guild. Admission to the museum required, with a suggested donation of $2 per boat.

Thursday, June 30 – Museum shop CLOSED for inventory all day

The Museum Boutique will be closed all day on June 30 to process the annual inventory, and will reopen on July 1 at 10:15 a.m. We hope to see you then!
